Throughout history, the U.S. has had a strong history of Christianity, with many states having many people identifying as Christian. We explore how history, culture, and contemporary trends have shaped diverse religious expressions to make these 21 states the most Christian, with percentages based on the number of people practicing religion:

51. Vermont 57%

Vermont boasts a rich tapestry of religious beliefs and practices, reflecting its diverse population. While 37% have no religious affiliation, more than half its residents are Christian. 

50. Massachusetts 59%

The Christian community in Massachusetts holds a significant presence, with Catholics constituting 34%. Additionally, 32% of the population identifies with diverse faiths, enriching the state’s religious tapestry.
